Project Implementation Process

Our implementation approach is meant to be structured yet flexible, ensuring we meet your department’s needs without adding unnecessary workload. It follows four key stages:

1. Discover

  • A Kickoff meeting to confirm objectives, success criteria, and communication protocols
  • Data discovery to identify available sources and formats including:
    • Incident & response data from your RMS and CAD system
    • Apparatus and station information
    • Map/GIS layers, and
    • Performance Targets (NFPA, ERF, internal targets, etc)
  • Then we performance a data review and audit to assess completeness, accuracy, and readiness for integration

2. Configure

  • Set up your Darkhorse environment
  • Integrate and process the data into a unified dataset, and
  • Create an automated data pipeline for ongoing updates
    • Our data pipeline works using the cadence and method best suited for your RMS/CAD provider, whether that’s an API, automated exports, SFTP, email, ODBC, or other options.

3. Customize

  • Tailor dashboards, reports, and visualizations to your operational priorities
  • Configure performance targets and metrics
  • Create scenarios based on your departments future needs and considerations

4. Ongoing Support

  • Conduct training sessions to ensure your team can use the platform confidently
  • Provide additional analysis as new questions or needs arise
  • Continuously refine tools and processes to support long-term goals

Biweekly check-ins throughout the process keep the project on track, give you visibility into progress, and allow for timely adjustments as needed. By the end of implementation, your platform will be fully operational and customized to your department and ready to deliver actionable insights from day one.

Next we’ll discuss the necessary data sources to get the apps up and running for your department.
